Legendary Japanese mixologist Hidetsugu Ueno opens Bar de Luxe in Hong Kong
Cocktail lovers are in for a treat. Japanese mixologist Hidetsugu Ueno of Tokyo’s Bar High Five fame has collaborated with classic menswear boutique Attire House on a new cocktail bar in the heart of Central, Hong Kong.
Named Bar de Luxe, the establishment spans 1,500 sq ft on the upper level of Attire House. The project is Bar High Five’s first collaboration outside Japan.
Ueno is considered one of Japan’s most famous mixologists. Ueno made his reputation in Ginza’s famous Star Bar before starting his own business. He sits on the judging panel of the World Class Bartender of the Year annual awards.
Ueno’s protégé Yuriko Naganuma will be manning Bar de Luxe as head bartender. Naganuma has created exclusive cocktails for the bar such as The Hidden Gem, made with Nikka from the Barrel Whisky, Japanese Yomogi Herb Liqueur, Averna Amaro, Sugarcane Sugar Syrup.
Bespoke creations based on individual tastes and moods are also available.
Ueno will be visiting Hong Kong this month and be the resident mixologist at Bar de Luxe from January 23 to 25.
