Hollywood child star who starred alongside Cameron Diaz suddenly dies at sober-living home

Former Hollywood child star, Evan Ellingson, known for his role in “My Sister’s Keeper,” has tragically died at the age of 35.

The movie star, who had been away from the cameras for a decade, was found unresponsive in his bedroom in San Bernardino County. The exact circumstances of his death are still unclear.

Evan’s father, Michael told TMZ that his son was found at a sober-living home. The publication reports that the star had struggled with drugs in the past, however, was doing better.

His sudden passing is said to have come as a “complete shock” to his family.

The Coroner’s Office tells the outlet that the exact circumstances of the 35-year-old’s death are unclear at this point, however, there is no foul play involved.

A look back at the star’s career

Evan was best known for his role as Cameron Diaz’s teenage son, Jesse, in My Sister’s Keeper, where he also joined a star-studded celebrity cast including Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, and Jason Patric.

As well as movies, he also starred in the TV series CSI: Miami, where he played Kyle Harmon, son of David Caruso’s Lt. Horatio Caine. His recurring character appeared in 18 episodes over 3 years.

His first acting role came when he was just 12 years old, in a 2001 TV movie, Living In Fear. He also had credits in General Hospital, 24, and Bones.

Speaking about his childhood onscreen was different from his friends, in 2009, he told The Philippine Star:

“I never had the same [childhood] experience with my friends. I never had more time with them. However, my childhood was a cool one. I was busy doing the things I love.”

Ellingson is survived by his daughter, Brooklynn who was born in 2008.
